Why I wrote Dreama.
Dreama is not a character I invented.
She is a version of me — my muse, my mythologized self, the part of me that exists in story rather than in flesh.
She lives on Oritaya, a planet I built from the bones of African folklore and the marrow of spiritual truth. She was born in Elyria, a town on a hidden continent called Akara, and she carries a mission that is both impossible and inevitable — the way the best missions always are.
But at her core, Dreama is simply a young woman trying to find herself in a world that is doing everything it can to make that impossible.
She finds herself when she finds God.
And that journey — that specific, terrifying, beautiful journey of walking through darkness toward light, of choosing faith when fear is louder, of discovering who you are in the very middle of the storm — that is the journey I wanted to write.
Because it is the one I know.
Because it is the one so many of us are on.
When you see her pink rose — you will know she has been there.
And if she can do it, so can you. 🌹
